Ljubljana - Life in the Burbs!
With our car rental booked and highly excited about our impending trip to the gorgeous capital of Slovenia, our first task was to find accommodation that had easy access from the Ljubljana ring road. The A-Hotel was the perfect choice.
Located in the sleepy southern edge of suburbia, the A-Hotel is just a few blocks from the freeway making it ideal for those using Ljubljana as a base for the myriad of amazing day trips on offer around Slovenia.
The A-Hotel was easy to locate and parking was a breeze as they have ample car parking available out front of the hotel itself.
It all begins with a “A”
Upon entering the AHotel, we felt an instant feeling of calm. The mood music and modern, sleek interior with a soothing palette made us feel right at home and gives you a real sense
that yes, you are on holiday, so kick back and relax…
All of the 26 rooms are located on one of the two floors above and they also have 2 separate apartments that might suit families or long term stays.
We must say the rooms are all quite spacious and well appointed. Rooms are clean and functional and we found the beds very comfortable. We like the modern décor and earthy tones.
Water pressure in the bathroom was good and the room was nicely cooled when we arrived. Reception will issue you with a code for the Wi-fi and the signal was very good for the duration of our stay.
The hotel was very quiet which made for a good nights sleep!
Love the Vibe
You know how certain places have that “feeling” that you can’t quite describe?
We feel this way about the AHotel and only in a good way!
Being on the edge of town and almost having a “rural” feeling (you can begin to see the fields open up the landscape as the city boundaries dissolve), the AHotel has a great vibe and the downstairs bar lounge, breakfast room and summer terrace are great spaces to unwind at any time of the day.
The aroma of breakfast cannot be ignored and it is a fantastic array of pastries, cereals and hot and cold options plus a great selection of beverages from the must have coffee to refreshing juices.
Not overdone or lacking, the quantity and quality on offer is just right. A great way to start the day.
And the summer terrace is a great place to sit and ponder the day ahead or meet new friends.
A German family are studying guide books and planning their assault on Ljubljana while an older English couple sit and admire the sounds of the birds while making the odd comment after extended pauses. A lone South African girl is looking at her phone while a very business like gentleman is reading the morning paper and sipping his brew with distinction. We love it here! The bar has the usual array of drinks on offer and they also do pizzas in the evening if you’re feeling peckish.
Ljubljana, my beloved!
Ljubljana is not a big city. The city centre is still only 10 minutes away and reception can organise a taxi at discounted rates for guests to anywhere in the city or even the airport. They are also able to help with car hire or laptop rental.
If you have a vehicle and are not keen on navigating the city centre streets and laneways, and if you want somewhere modern, contemporary, clean, inviting and quietly chic, then the Ahotel is the place for you.
This hotel was a very pleasant surprise for me. After having paid 70 Euro for one night in the lackluster Hotel Emonec, I was not expecting to much out of a hotel for 75 Euro for one night. It was a very beautiful hotel.
In fact, I liked it more than even Hotel Piran. Wireless internet here was free, and the lounge served delicious food and beverages. It was a great, relaxing place.
It was about a 20 minute walk or 5-10 minute drive south of the center of the city, but the staff is very helpful in acquiring a taxi for you if you do not want to drive yourself.
