There’s plenty to do at the Ociski Raj!
If you’re looking for a hostel that is central to everything in the southwest of Slovenia, this is the place!
Active is a buzzword around here and you won’t be bored as the region around here could easily keep you busy for a few weeks or more!
Climbers will be in heaven at nearby Osp, Crni Kal and the Glinscica regional park.
Cyclists can ride the trails from Kozina to Trieste and down to the coast along the abandoned train line.
Cave enthusiasts will drool at the prospect of exploring Postojna, Skocjan, Divaca, Vilenica & Dimnice.
Hikers and nature lovers can enjoy miles of trails in all directions (Socerb is awesome!)
If the thought of all that exhausts you, take a break and spend a leisurely day at the coast.
Koper, Piran and Portoroz are only minutes away via the freeway. If you feel the need for some big city action and a decent coffee, then Trieste is on your doorstep.
You really have some great options while staying at the Raj!
Come and find us in Ocizla
Just off the freeway near Kozina, a car is the handiest form of transport for reaching the Ociski Raj.
The train station is 3 km away and the bus station is 2 km away. Your host Jana can pick you up no problem by prior arrangement as they have their own van!
The house of the Ociski Raj is green indeed. And inside Jana has a multitude of uplifting colours featured in every room to mix things up a little.
When we visited, Jana prepared a cup of tea to warm us up as it was still snowing outside. We sat and chatted as Jana was happy to talk about the hostel and surroundings.
The Hostel rooms are unique; each one has different name and cool characteristics of Slovene soft drinks produced before '90 ( Cockta, Pingo, Radenska, Jupi, Jelšanka, etc.).
The rooms were very clean and simple, but nicely done. We had a double room and it was nice and warm on our arrival. Our bed was comfortable and there was also an extra pillow of "harder consistency." There’s a large wardrobe with extra blankets and we got set of two towels per person!
Our bedroom was on the second floor and had a large shared balcony where you can put your laundry to dry. In the hostel there are two shared bathrooms; male and female and since the hostel was not full we took one bathroom and the other room took the other one. Our bathroom (female) was also very clean; it has two showers and two sinks, there was also a hair- dryer, soap and heated at our arrival. In the other bathroom there is also washing machine (4€ per wash, stay longer and its free of charge).
On the second floor there is shared dinning and living room with a kitchen corner; there are three large tables (each one for 8 persons), a large flat tv and computer with printer.
In the Ociski Raj there is free wi-fi connection and it works very well!
Fuel for the day ahead
Jana and her crew will ask guests what they prefer for breakfast. They can make pancakes, toast, hrenovke ( thin sausages), scrambled eggs, sliced salami accompanied
by honey, marmalade, melted cheese, bread, tea, coffee, milk, and sometimes yogurt and apples.
We loved the very nice wooden stairs and surfaces and in winter guests can use slippers with the Raj logo!
Our stay was very nice, I have no negative impressions so come and stay at the Ociski Raj and have a great time.
Of course, tell them that Sloveniaforyou.com sent you!
